keiross sundayx: Cool question. I will indeed make some more for people I think are cool (ie, you) - but right now I need a break I think a lot of them are crap, but I have seen a couple really cool ones

quickdraw I'm a comedian by trade, so I have a knack for looking at everyday things and finding something funny about them. I did one emote after watching an episode of "Cops", and another after playing a game of hacky sack. I just keep an open eye and mind to the possibilities around me. Especially if I think it'll be good for a giggle or two. :Aww:

keiross Sure. But with something like this a lot of it comes down to the indivual. The best way to learn is by your own mistakes I think. But I'm always happy to help. I also think some people don't bother to spend the time on them so there is no quick fix.

quickdraw tmpst24myst: To answer your question from my point of view. Testing emotes depends on what you plan on doing with them. I tend to test mine after submitting them, because I gear them towards dA and dAmn use. I'm pretty sure that was the question.

quickdraw The end product, for me. The actual process of making an emote can be frustrating and can really try your patience. But it is worth it to see someone say how cool it is or how it made them laugh.

Narfmaster in the actual production process in making, I personally like the spending long periods of time perfecting the animation, getting them as good as I can. afterwards, it's definately the same as keir, watching their response.

keiross Well from an avatar point of view, I didn't know my arse from my elbow when it comes to pixel programs until jeanpat asked me for a Fella avatar about a year ago or something. Once she asked me I taught myself.

keiross And I get the ideas from the person that wants the avvie of course.

quickdraw tmpst24myst: I started doing emotes last year or so simply because I was bored with what I was doing. I came across a tutorial by mattdanna and figured I would give them a try. I love trying new things. I really enjoyed making the first ones and wanted to make more. But as irony would have it, I moved on to other things and haven't had the time to get back to them in some time.

Narfmaster well I suppose that I'll spend between an hour and three hours on most of my emotes,

Narfmaster but this varies a lot.

Narfmaster I mean,

Narfmaster took me about 20 minutes,

keiross It depends, an avatar can take anything between an hour to 3 or 4 hours. I remember :dev... oh I forget his name, but the one where Fella burns to nothing, that took about 5 hours. Oddly, the amount of time spent creating it doesn't correlate with how popular the avatar is.

keiross Sometimes people like the simple ones the best.

quickdraw Depends on if it is a static emote, or an animated one. Animations tend to take a few days because I like to get away from the emote, and then come back the next day and continue on it. The longest one I did was a journal header using emotes that took me 7 days to make because it was over 500 frames.
